Water-vapor and temperature profiles from the surface to the lower troposphere belong to the most important information about the state of the atmosphere, e.g., for climatologies, weather forecasting, process studies, cloud and precipitation initiation and developments among other topics. On top of these key thermodynamic profiles also other derived variables can be determined such as relative humidity and buoyancy, independent aerosol particle backscatter and extinction profiles as well as cloud structures with unprecedented details.
