Advancing Global Data Sharing & Visualization through WIS 2.0 & Synoptic
As demand for real-time, high-volume environmental data grows, the need for a scalable, open, and modern approach to data sharing is more urgent than ever. WIS 2.0—the new generation of the WMO Information System—is designed to meet that challenge. It replaces legacy systems like the Global Telecommunication System (GTS) with a cloud-based model built on public web standards and MQTT protocols.
Synoptic has been actively involved in the development and early implementation of WIS 2.0. As a trusted data partner, we offer WIS 2.0 integration, enabling any country to publish and access observational data with greater efficiency, as well as visualization tools for consumers of the data. Our implementation supports automated data flows from diverse networks and ensures the right data reaches the right users, quickly.
This presentation will focus on the work Synoptic has done with the WIS 2.0 system towards improving and expanding global data sharing.
