This presentation shares field experience from LoRaWAN-based environmental observation networks deployed in two contrasting environments: dense forests in Luxembourg and remote rural areas in Bangladesh. It presents practical results and lessons learned on radio coverage, node placement, energy autonomy, solar power, hardware robustness and system maintenance. The presentation also discusses how LoRaWAN and integrated data platforms can support scalable and resilient surface-based environmental observing systems.
