Mountain catchments need reliable, physically meaningful streamflow observations to support forecasting and risk management. This presentation introduces an approach that combines edge-assimilated radar observations with dual-purpose optical sensing, enabling interpretable monitoring of streamflow in high-gradient catchments. It highlights how complementary sensing and data assimilation can improve observation coverage, timeliness and usefulness for hydrological decision-making.
