PRECICAP is a recently introduced novel non-catchment type precipitation measurement technology. Rain is reconstructed as ensembles of distinct raindrop signals of Doppler radar. This skill enables precipitation measurements to be referred to physical properties of raindrops, measured in ambient weather. PRECICAP mitigates uncertainty in precipitation measurement and enables automated metrologically consistent field verification of the sensor operation.
