Wind-induced undercatch remains a significant source of uncertainty in rainfall measurement. This presentation introduces an integrated approach combining optical raindrop sensing with ultrasonic wind measurement directly at the rain-gauge rim. Raindrop size and distribution, together with local wind speed and direction, provide inputs for estimating collection efficiency and correcting wind-induced bias. Laboratory and wind-tunnel results demonstrate the feasibility of this approach and identify priorities for further field validation and operational deployment.
