How to measure flood-discharge accurately?
Most discharge measurement methods reach their limits at high water levels and during flood conditions. The river gets very turbulent, sediments are eroded and deposited at high rates and debris floats on the water surface.
The RQ-30 is not impressed by such problems: it operates with radar sensors that are not in contact with the water.
By mounting it above the surface makes the RQ-30 insensitive to adverse water and flow conditions. It continuously acquires accurate discharge data irrespective of the flow rate.
