Prof. Jadranka Sepic and Prof. Vladimir Pleština from the University of Split, Faculty of Science report on the deployment of the Scintec Sodar MFAS at Split Airport and emphasize the importance of such tool in airport operations and for monitoring atmospheric conditions.
The Sodar is utilized by University of Split, Faculty of Science for scientific research of vertical wind distribution, in particular of the strongest Adriatic winds Bora, Sirocco, and Mistral, and for student education and master thesis. Another important application is for air traffic safety for which the Sodar is used by the air traffic control agency Croatia Control.
Overall, the versatile applications of the Sodar makes it an important instrument in both meteorological research and practical operational settings.
