Cloud Sky Imager
The CSI-50D features a 180° fisheye lens and a 9 MP sensor, enabling single-frame full-sky coverage with detailed spatial information. It supports fully automatic monitoring and brightness-adaptive exposure control, ensuring consistent image quality under varying solar elevation and irradiance conditions. Powered by embedded neural-network algorithms, it provides quantitative cloud cover measurements (total, thick, and thin cloud cover), classification of the ten cloud genera, and sky/weather state identification (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy, overcast, and rainy). The system also supports automatic/manual ground-object removal to enhance cloud detection accuracy.
All image processing and cloud data analysis are performed locally within the device, allowing cloud image data and processed results to be uploaded directly to a user-specified server without the need for cloud-based computation. Data access and configuration are provided through an integrated browser-based software platform, without the need for dedicated workstations or additional software installation. It delivers comprehensive and standardized data outputs designed to meet the demanding requirements of scientific research, photovoltaic applications, meteorology, and other fields.
Features:
- 180° ultra-wide field of view with a 9MP 1/1.7” sensor.
- All image processing and cloud data analysis are performed locally within the device.
- Deep learning algorithms reduce illumination-related errors, enabling robust cloud cover estimation under challenging conditions.
- Built-in data acquisition capability, supporting integration of up to five external Modbus RTU sensors, such as weather and pyranometers.
