WindBorne Systems maintains the world's most prolific weather balloon constellation, WindBorne Atlas: 600+ constantly circulating Global Sounding Balloons (GSBs). GSBs are long-endurance, multiple-profiling radiosondes that fly for an average of 10 days, collecting ~20 soundings per flight. WindBorne releases ~1000 balloons per month from 17 ground stations across 8 countries. Atlas data is assimilated into NOAA's GFS and available on GTS via the US National Mesonet Program. WindBorne also operates WeatherMesh, an AI forecasting model whose 3 km configuration outperforms HRRR at every forecast hour beyond initialization, extending the forecasting horizon to 72 hours. MetaMesh blends WeatherMesh with NWP guidance.
