Dr Alec Bennett is Principal Scientist at Senseca, where he provides scientific leadership for innovation in meteorological instrumentation at the company's UK site in Bristol. With more than 20 years of experience in atmospheric science, sensor technology, and product development, he has led the development of internationally deployed weather monitoring and warning systems across government and industry, including a novel thunderstorm warning system recognised as one of the world's most sensitive operational solutions. He holds a PhD in Atmospheric Electricity from the University of Reading and an Executive MBA from the University of Exeter. Alec is a Chartered Meteorologist and Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and serves as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Universities of Bath and Bristol. His work spans scientific research, industrial innovation, and collaboration with national weather services, universities, and the World Meteorological Organization. He has supervised postgraduate research students and published more than 40 peer-reviewed papers, with a particular focus on atmospheric electricity and thunderstorm detection.
