Angel Anita Christy
Project Scientist,
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology
Dr. Angel Anita Christy is a Project Scientist at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, where she works on the Mission Mausam Project under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. She holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala, India.
Her research focuses on tropical atmospheric boundary-layer processes, radar and radiosonde observations, cloud and precipitation measurements and stable isotope research. Her doctoral research investigated atmospheric boundary layer characteristics over a tropical coastal environment, including the development and evaluation of a VHF radar-based method for estimating atmospheric boundary layer height and its variability under different meteorological conditions.
At IITM, she is currently engaged in research at the High Altitude Cloud Physics Laboratory (HACPL), Mahabaleshwar, using remote-sensing and in-situ observations to investigate rainfall microphysics and localised extreme weather events. Her broader research interests lie in integrating experimental observations with numerical modelling to better understand the physical mechanisms and dynamical processes governing the tropical atmosphere.
