Graziano Coppa
Researcher,
Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRiM)
Graziano Coppa, PhD is a scientific researcher at the Italian Istituto di Ricerca Metrologica (INRiM) since 2013.
He graduated in 2004 in astronomy, earned a master’s degree in applied mathematics in 2006 and a PhD in astronomy in 2010. He worked as a fellow in various research institutions in Italy and abroad, both meteorological and astronomical, with a particular interest on the statistical and mathematical tools used for the analysis of large datasets. He co-authored more than 100 papers on international peer-reviewed journals. He helped organize PhD courses and international conferences and is co-tutor of Bachelor and PhD candidates.
Since his move to INRiM, he focused on the design, realization, characterization and management of several meteo-metrological experiments aimed at the evaluation of the uncertainties in the measurements of temperatures due to various effects (road siting, snow coverage albedo). He also performed calibrations for the temperature instruments employed in high mountains and the Arctic campaigns. His activities also involve the determination of high-quality primary thermometers' behavior, the thermal characterization of instruments for satellites, the metrological assessment of uncertainties in agro-meteorological studies.
He is a member of GRUAN WG and coordinator of the impending GSRN pilot stations intercomparison.
