Magnus Lindskog
Researcher,
ECMWF
Magnus Lindskog is a Senior Scientist at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), where he works in the Actively Sensed Observations Team with responsibility for conventional observing systems. He has more than 25 years of experience in data assimilation for numerical weather prediction (NWP).
Prior to joining ECMWF, Magnus worked at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), where he contributed to the development of the operational variational data assimilation system and led research on mesoscale data assimilation. His work has included observation handling, estimation of observation and background error statistics, and the evaluation of advanced data assimilation techniques. Much of this research was carried out within the international HIRLAM and ALADIN collaborations.
His current work includes observation impact assessment and the enhanced use of in-situ observations, including aircraft, radiosonde, surface-based, and emerging observing systems, in numerical weather prediction.
