Seon Woong Kim
Senior Research Scientist,
Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS)
Dr. Kim is a Senior Research Scientist at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), the national metrology institute of South Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University, specializing in laser diagnostics of reacting flows. Since joining KRISS, Dr. Kim has focused on precision thermometry, making key contributions to upper-air meteorological observation and sensor characterization. His team successfully developed a state-of-the-art upper-air simulator dedicated to the rigorous ground testing and calibration of radiosondes under simulated atmospheric conditions. Leveraging this metrological capability, he is currently expanding his research scope to upper-air environmental gas monitoring, focusing on developing agile, traceable, and cost-effective measurement methods for vertical atmospheric profiling.
