Dr. Yong-Gyoo Kim is a Principal Research Scientist in the Thermometry and Fluid Flow Metrology Group at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS). With more than 30 years of experience in temperature metrology, he has focused since 2015 on SI-traceable surface and upper-air temperature measurements. He led the development of KRISS’s Upper Air Simulator and the dual-thermistor radiosonde, establishing laboratory standards for upper-air temperature and humidity. As Working Group convenor, he guided publication of three ISO standards on radiosonde test methods in 2025–2026: ISO 8932-1 (temperature calibration), ISO 8932-2 (humidity calibration) and ISO 8932-3 (solar radiation error). His work strengthens the reliability of global weather and climate observations.
